One More Frame!

I figured, after yesterday's fun, I'd go ahead and keep bowling...

Frankly, I'm just impressed that this particular alley has custom More Production balls. Okay, what's more disturbing: the blatant racism of the Tojo (or is that supposed to be Hirohito?) or the horrible, horrible phallicism of il Duce?

I guess I'll go with the latter, because the former is sadly too common in these pics.

Comics writer Geoff Johns is a talented guy, but also one weird mammajamma, as the following series of twitter updates (or "TweetsTM" as the kids call them) may show:

I had a dream that I read a comic with Batman and Captain America teaming up as they travel through time, riding pterodactyls.

If there's one constant about human society: if there is a horrible tragedy, someone will be there to make a quick buck off it. HGP is kicking off a week of those fast-buck-makers, because really: who wouldn't want an anti-Hitler mousepad?

Personally, I would love a Captain America #1 mousepad...hint, hint...

Okay, the art credits on this Cover of Batman #18 are a little weird, but essentially, the picture of Batman & Robin was lifted from page 13 of Detective Comics #84. Ed Kressy penciled that with Dick Sprang inking. The pictures of the 3 Axis scumbags were by Stan Kaye and are original to this cover.

Marvel Comics has never been afraid to ask the tough questions, questions like:
  • What if exposure to radiation didn't lead to hair loss, thyroid damage, reduced lymphocyte count, nausea, diarrhea, sterility, cancer, and/or death, but rather made people into giant green rampaging monsters or wisecracking acrobats able to stick to walls?
  • Could a short, hairy Canadian with a history of violent behavior become a Hollywood sex symbol?
  • Is there anything more ass-kicking than this cover?1
And in the fall of 1991, they answered the question on all of our minds:

Well, other than it being vaguely homoerotic, it turns out the answer is:


The 'helpless Jews' line seems a little patronizing, but *I'm* not a Canadian sex symbol...

The 90s were, of course, a darker time. Punching was apparently not gritty enough.

Alternate timeline Hitler gets a hot lead injection in What if..? (volume II) #28, written by George Caragonne, with pencils by Ron Wilson and inks by Ralph Cabrera.

Olaf found this, which I believe makes him an honorary U.S. citizen by now, whether he likes it or not.2

God Bless You, Jack Kirby, for knowing the correct sound effect for two Nazi faces slamming together.
...or, most of us did.

This face-smashingly awesome reason to be happy that Steve Rogers is scheduled to come back from "death" today is from Captain America's Bicentennial Battles, published in 1976 (the year your Star-Spangled Blogger was born, by the way). If you can't tell this was penciled by Jack Kirby by now, shame on you. Inks are by either Barry Windsor-Smith or Herb Trimpe (heck, either one is fine by me).
